about the life.together project

The life.together project is an artistic undertaking by Paul and Sarah Beth Boekell. The main idea of the project is for each artist to create one photography work for the project without any communication between each other. The photos are then paired together in a single post, often in the form of a diptych.

The life.together project is now in it’s second year. Each year, the guidelines for the project will vary slightly. You can read these guidelines below.

——————-

life.together year two:

the second year of the life.together project began the week of October 29th, 2012 and will continue through the week of October 21st, 2013.

Photographic works will be created weekly during year two, as opposed to the daily format of year one.

These will be the guidelines for the project:

  • photographic works will be created weekly in line with a specific theme.
  • each week a specific word or sentence will define that theme for that specific week.
  • for this specific project weeks will begin on monday morning and the photographic work must be created before the week ends on sunday night.
  • however, the photographs contained in the work are not required to be taken within that specific week (only edited etc during that specific week).
  • photos can be of anything that the artist encounters in their day to day life.
  • photos must be taken with an iphone.
  • photos must be edited only with the iphone, but may be edited in any app available for the iphone.
  • only one photographic work per artist, per week, and they must be paired together no matter how different or similar they may be.

life.together year one:

the first year of the life.together project began on their three year anniversary, October 18th, 2011 and continued through October 17th, 2012.

These were the guidelines to the project:

  • photos can be of anything that the artist encounters in their day to day life.
  • photos must be taken with an iphone.
  • photos must be edited only with the iphone app, instagram.
  • only one photo per day per artist, and they must be paired together no matter how different or similar they may be.
